Registration - General Regulations

The following regulations may be revised from time to time.

1.TEXTBOOKS/MANUALS

A text/manual is issued to each individual for the duration of the course only. We request that these be returned to us at the end of the term.

They are to be returned unmarked as they will be re-issued to future students attending programmes at BIMAP.


2. EXAMINATIONS

There are three (3) options for completion of courses -

a) Students may complete courses and write examinations as set by respective lecturers. Students will be informed of the dates and times of all examinations.

b) Students may complete courses by assignment. A designation of 'Pass' or 'Fail' will be applied to assignments - Distinctions will not be awarded. There will be an additional fee for courses completed by assignment.

c) Students may complete courses by attendance only. A letter of attendance will be issued to students attending at least 75% of required classes.


IMPORTANT !

Supplemental Examinations

Written permission to take a supplemental exam MUST be obtained, by the student, from the Training Administrator ON OR BEFORE
the scheduled time of the examination. Letters should be accompanied by either:
1. a medical certificate (in the case of illness), or
2. a letter from the employer (in the case of work-related activities).
An Administration Fee of BDS $100 be charged for all supplemental exams.

ALL supplemental exams will be taken on ONE day at the end of the respective terms. Students will be informed of the date and time of all examinations.


3. COURSE EVALUATIONS


Course Evaluations are important in helping us to improve our standards of training. Your full co-operation is requested.


4. FINAL GRADES

After the term has ended, grades and certificates are mailed to self-sponsored individuals and to companies which sponsor employees.

Grades are not given over the telephone!


5. RESITS

Should a student fail a course, the following options are available:

1. Repeat the course paying the full fee, if failed with a Grade 'D' or Grade 'E'.
2. Repeat the final examination, paying an Examination Fee, if failed with Grade 'D'.

A request to resit the final examination must be made in writing to the Training Administrator, Training Division, and must be accompanied by a fee of BDS $100.00.

Resits must be taken at the next offering of the examination.


6. LIBRARY

The library's hours of business are 9:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m.


7. LETTERS OF INTRODUCTION

Certain courses offered by the Institute require students to visit companies to conduct interviews.

Request forms for letters of introduction for this purpose must be submitted to the Training Administrator by the chairperson of each group, at least one (1) week in advance of the scheduled date.


8. EQUIPMENT

Students who have class presentations which require the use of the
Institute's equipment, should complete the enclosed form and return to
the Training Administrator at least one (1) week in advance.

Students are not permitted to use the photocopy machines.


9. USE OF COMPUTERS

Permission to use the computer facilities outside of class hours must be
obtained from the Training Administrator. Please complete and return the required form.


10. USE OF CLASSROOMS

Students wishing to use classrooms on weekends must complete and return the
required form to the Training Administrator at least two (2) days in advance.

Please note that food and drinks are not allowed in the classrooms!


11. TRANSCRIPTS

BIMAP will respond to requests for transcripts to be sent to other
educational institutions.

Requests (including full mailing address of the institution) should
be made in writing to the Training Administrator. Transcripts will
be sent directly to the institutions.

A request for a transcript requires at least two (2) weeks for processing.

A fee of BDS $10.00 will be charged for each transcript.


12. CERTIFICATES

Students are expected to attend at least 75% of all classes before certificates are issued.

The First Name and Surname as indicated on your Registration Form will be used on your BIMAP certificate(s).

BIMAP hosts an annual graduation. Students who are successful in courses will be invited to the next graduation.

Requests for replacements of certificates should be addressed to the Training Administrator, and must be accompanied by a fee of BDS $20.00 (per certificate). Replacements for diplomas are BDS $50.00.


13. REFUNDS/CREDITS

Full Refund

Full refund of course fees will be allowed in the following circumstances -

1. A place is not allocated on the course.
2. The course is cancelled.

Partial Refund

An administration fee of BDS $50.00 will be deducted from the course fee paid if withdrawal from the course is effected (in writing) on or before the start of the term. A penalty of BDS $150.00, and an administration fee of BDS $50.00 will be deducted from the course fee if withdrawal from the course is effected (in writing) on or before the fourth session of the course.


Financial Credit

A non-transferrable and non-refundable financial credit of BDS $225.00 will be allowed if notice of withdrawal is submitted (in writing) on or before the sixth session of the term.

Financial credits will not be allowed after the sixth session of the term.

A financial credit will normally be valid for three (3) terms.

* Distinctions may be awarded to students in the top 10% of the class scoring 90% or more.

The BDMS student must pass the nine courses in the programme of study in accordance with the above grading scheme.

Registration

Term 3, 2010 (September 11th  to  December 4th)

REGISTRATION PERIOD:

REGISTRATION CLOSES Saturday, September 4th, 2010 OR WHEN THE COURSE IS FULLY BOOKED.

Companies:

Member companies wishing to register employees for courses should first contact the Training Division to confirm that places are available.

Private Individuals:

Since places on a course are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis, private individuals who wish to register for a course should confirm a place by paying the necessary fee.

REMEMBER PAYMENT IS DUE WITHIN 2 DAYS OF REGISTERING TO CONFIRM REGISTRATION!
