The BIMAP Diploma in Management Studies (BDMS) is designed to meet the needs of persons seeking to become professional managers in the functional areas of management.
Through a systematic course of study, participants in the BDMS programme are provided with the opportunity to become thoroughly familiar with the fundamental concepts of management, and skilled in the use of the tools of modern management practice. They are also provided with learning experiences which promote the development and growth of those attitudes, values and ethical concerns which are important facets of the practice of management.
The BDMS is structured to permit candidates to specialize in the following functional areas of management:

- 4 foundation courses
- 3 seminars (2 compulsory, 1 optional)
- 4 core courses (3 compulsory, 1 optional)

THE FOUNDATION COURSES
The courses comprising this section are:
- The Fundamentals of Management
- Principles of Economics
- Book-keeping and Accounts (Basic) or Accounting and Finance for Management or Hotel Accounting
- Fundamentals of Spreadsheet Analysis or Fundamentals of Database Management

The Seminar Series
For each functional area of specialization three (3) courses are compulsory and one (1) optional.
Each BDMS student will be required to participate in a set of seminars to foster (through experimental learning) those values, attitudes and sensitivities to moral and ethical issues which are essential for managerial leadership.
The series will also provide opportunities for participants to evaluate recent advances in management thought and practice, and to become sensitized to the importance of current and social political forces on the practice of management.
The series will be structured as follows:
SECTION A Two (2) Compulsory seminars (See the Seminar Series)
- The Management of Change
- Effective Team Building

Core Courses
Core Courses are made up of three compulsory courses and one optional course. See the area of specialization for specifics.

The Advanced Project/Thesis
There will be one (1) Advanced Project/Thesis to be completed according to each area of specialization. Every BDMS student will be required to take this course towards the end of the programme of study.
The course will be centered on a number of workshops and will include the completion of a Research and Development Project.
The course is intended to integrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired in the previous courses and prepare the candidate to be a fully capable professional in the chosen functional area of management.
The Research and Development Project will involve one of the following:
- The improvement of an existing management system or procedure.
- The development of a new management system or procedure.
- The improvement of an existing product or service.
- The development of a new product or service.
